Ingredients: • 4 eggs • 1 cup sugar • 1 cup self raising flour [sifted] • 1 cup semolina • 2 cups FreshLife Hazelnut • 1 cup plain yoghurt • 1/2 cup vegetable oil • Zest and juice of 1 lemon
Syrup • 3 cups sugar • 2 cups water • Juice of half lemon • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
Method: Cake 1. Beat eggs and sugar until light and fluffy. 2. Add remaining ingredients and mix until well combined. 3. Pour into round cake tin and cook at 180°C for 40 minutes until golden brown. 4. Allow to cool completely.
Syrup 1. Combine sugar and water in saucepan and boil for 10 minutes. 2. Add lemon juice and vanilla essence and cook for a further 5 minutes. 3. Pour hot syrup over cold cake. 4. Allow to soak for several hours. 5. Serve with crushed hazelnut and cream.
